Stanford men’s soccer freshman Corey Baird has been was named Pac-12 Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

The honor is Baird’s first, the first of the season for the Cardinal and Stanford’s 19th all-time player of the week selection.

Baird had the first multi-goal game of his young career and the first for a Cardinal in 2014, as his brace carried No. 8 Stanford to a 2-2 draw with No. 1 UCLA last Thursday night in Westwood.

Baird is now tied for second on the team in goals (3) and is sixth in points (8).

The Cardinal followed up the performance at UCLA with a 1-0 overtime victory against San Diego State on Sunday.

Stanford is now 10-2-3 overall, 3-1-3 in league play and has matched last season’s win total. It returns to The Farm Friday (5 p.m.) and Sunday (3 p.m.) for matches against Washington (11-3-1, 4-2-1) and Oregon State (9-6-1, 2-4-1), both of which will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
