East Palo Alto police arrested on Friday a 19-year-old man who they believe fatally stabbed resident Frank Finney on University Avenue in February, police said.

Police have charged Ernesto Alexis Mora Samayoa, an East Palo Alto resident, for murdering Finney on the evening of Feb. 8.

Finney was reportedly one of two people who were found with stab wounds in the area of University Avenue and Bell Street at about 8:25 p.m. One person had minor injuries and was treated at the scene, according to the police. The other victim, Finney, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Stanford Hospital. He died from those injuries on March 2, police said.

Police had asked the community for help in identifying suspects and the organization Mothers Against Murder had offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Finney’s murder.

According to the news release, Samayoa was already in custody at the San Mateo County Jail for a different crime when he was booked for the murder.
