Coastside chefs are coming together March 20 to support health, environmental and agricultural education.

The HEAL Project, a Half Moon Bay-based nonprofit that aims to teach kids where their food comes from and its impact, is holding its annual Spring Ahead strolling supper at Half Moon Bay Italian restaurant Pasta Moon on March 20. Started in 2011, this year’s event features dishes by Kim Levin of Pasta Moon, Scott Clark of Dad’s Luncheonette, Liam and Jose Luis Ugalde from Gibraltar Gems, Lewis Rossman of Sam’s Chowder House and Sandy Thongsavat-Potter of Blue Dragon Pho.

Ingredients will be sourced from Pescadero-based Corvus Farm, Fifth Crow Farm and Brisa Ranch, San Gregorio-based Blue House Farm and Pomponio Ranch, and Half Moon Bay-based Giusti Farms and San Mateo County School Farm, said Erin Tormey, founding board member of The HEAL Project.

Jettywave Distillery will provide a specialty cocktail, Half Moon Bay Brewing Company will offer local beer and Half Moon Bay Winery will provide wine. Mike McCall, a San Francisco-based Spanish guitarist, will perform live music, and radio personality Marcus D. from the “Marcus and Corey Morning Show” on Star 101.3/iHeart Radio will be the host.

The HEAL Project started the San Mateo County School Farm, a 2-acre educational farm, in 2010 to provide hands-on learning to students countywide. In addition to being a field trip destination, the San Mateo County School Farm sells its produce at the Coastside Farmers’ Market in Half Moon Bay from April to December. The HEAL Project offers a variety of education programs for kids, including a 26-week program for second and third grade students in Cabrillo Unified School District and the Student Marketeer program that allows third through 12th grade students to volunteer at The HEAL Project’s farmers market booth.

Early-bird pricing for the Spring Ahead strolling supper ($200) is available until Feb. 28.
