Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

We’re squeezing in one more family-owned restaurant this winter. Stop by your locally-owned eateries; they support the backbone of our communities. Whether you eat inside or out

Desi in Campbell, CA is an unexpected foray into contemporary Indian cuisine and street food, modern-fusion-style. Fun, free-spirited and maybe don’t tell Grandma, owners and partners Mohit and Nagrath Archana shake up the classics. These Silicon Valley engineers left high-tech to celebrate how signature dishes from different parts of the world could fuse together and create something new and better. Fresh, healthy, and packed with flavorful options for gluten free eaters, vegetarians, vegans and meat lovers; Desi has got you covered.

The menu is ambitious. Specialties drinks highlight their cocktail program with drink themes. Choose something Cheerful & Lighthearted like Fundoo Mule (mango, lime, ginger beer + gin ($12), or maybe Romantic and Effervescence is more your style (Pehla Nasha has gin, cardamom-infused lilet + rose ($18). For a non-alcoholic libation, try their Indian kombucha called “Kaanji.”

We started with a Tashan, or “Flight of 3,” delicious bites of paneer bhurji tarts, verde cutlets and curd rice poppers ($24)

Gol Gappe surprised – flavor water bombs – 3 ways with some of their homemade sauces. Vegan and very unique ($8) .

Kulcha Chalupa Tacos were really yummy, filled with Butter Chicken or Pindi Chole-style (Garbanzo beans with Indian spices).

And the Coastal Grilled Fishbowl (sea bass, coconut curry and veggies) had a pineapple relish I’m still dreaming about! ($28)
