Corned beef and cabbage, Irish jigs and Guinness – St. Patrick’s Day is back again, and while it lands on a Sunday this year, the upside is that the festivities extend throughout the weekend. Here’s our guide to the celebrations happening around the Peninsula:

Concerts and special events

Feldman’s Books
Feldman’s celebrates Irish culture with performances by Vincey Keehan and Kyle Alden, plus “mystery guests from Ireland.” The evening includes poetry, literature, songs and dance, plus  homemade Irish stew, brown bread, soda bread, and sourdough with home-churned butter.

St. Paddy’s Beer Stroll
Visitors can sample craft beers and enjoy live music while strolling through downtown Los Altos at this event hosted by the Los Altos Village Association.

St. Patrick’s 5K in Pacifica 
The Pacifica Runners host a coastal 5K for all ages. The race features chip timing and a custom medal. Also, raffle prizes and kids’ goodie bags.

Elks Lodge of Palo Alto St. Patrick’s Party
The lodge serves up green beer and Irish whiskey, corned beef and cabbage with boiled red potatoes and buttered carrots, along with housemade stout mustard. RSVP required.

Walker Roaders at The Guild
The Walker Roaders, an all-stars band of “Celtic punk bands” featuring members of The Pogues, Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly, performs a St. Patrick’s Day show. The Sam Chase & The Untraditional open.

Los Gatos Town Celebration 
A day of music celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with performances by six bands raises funds for Los Gatos Music in the Park. The lineup includes the Prince Charles Pipe Band, Big Mable and the Portholes, and the Wildcat Mountain Ramblers. The Black Irish Band headlines.

Alhambra Irish House 
St. Patrick’s events on March 17 include performances by Irish dancers (11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) and Irish musician Stephen Ross (noon-3 p.m.) and DJ Chip (3 p.m.-close). Irish favorites such as Guinness steak pie and colcannon are on the pub’s March menu. The pub also presents a St. Patrick’s drag show with host Chai on March 20.
