A preview of Palo Alto government meetings for the week of Jan. 11.
CITY COUNCIL … The council plans to meet in a closed session to discuss existing litigation involving separate claims against the city by Wells Fargo Bank and Monroe Place, as well as a petition to the state Water Resources Control Board relating to stormwater runoff. The council will also consider approving a variance for a home at 224 Churchill Ave. and hold a public hearing on 1050 Page Mill Road, which involves demolition of four buildings totaling 265,895 square feet and construction of two buildings with the same amount of square footage. BOARD OF EDUCATION … The board will hear the Enrollment Management Advisory Committee (EMAC) final report and recommendations, discuss the process for renaming facilities in light of a community petition to rename Jordan Middle School, and discuss several new and revised board policies and administrative regulations. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, in the board room at the district headquarters, 25 Churchill Ave. Read the agenda here.
UTILITIES ADVISORY COMMISSION … The commission plans to hear an update about Fiber to the Premises and the city’s planned wireless network; discuss the conversion of electric wires from overhead to underground; consider approval of a power purchase agreement with Hecate Energy; discuss the Solar Hot Water Heating Program; and hear an update on the Utilities Legislative Policy Guidelines. HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION … The commission will discuss the speaker series, “An Immigrant Experience in Palo Alto”; plans for a community forum on “Implicit Bias”; hear an update from the Homeless Vets subcommittee; and discuss next steps for the commission’s review of the Comprehensive Plan update. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, in the Community Meeting Room at City Hall, 250 Hamilton Ave.
