INFO ON CREDIT CHECKS . . . The Consumer Protection Unit of the Santa Clara County Office of the District Attorney issued a warning this month about inflated credit check charges for potential rentals. As of Jan. 1 of this year, landlords in California can only charge $30 per applicant for a credit screening fee. As a prospective tenant, you are entitled to a receipt explaining the charges and a copy of your credit report. FUCHSIA SHOW . . . The Santa Clara Branch of The American Fuchsia Society will host a fuchsia show at Gamble Garden Center on Sunday, Aug. 3, from noon to 4 p.m. An elaborate variety of fuchsia blooms and plants will be on display in the carriage house and on the patio at Gamble. There is no admission charge for the show.

NEW CASHIN OFFICES . . . Burlingame-based Cashin Company will open a new office in Menlo Park in early August at 951 S. El Camino Real. The firm is currently operating a temporary office in Menlo Park at 707 Menlo Ave.

ADDITIONS TO THE BOARD . . . Hidden Villa recently announced new board members, who include Palo Alto residents Robert Blatt and Meimei Pan and East Palo Altan Magdalena Fittoria. Blatt is a vice president at Aspect Telecommunications and is an outdoor enthusiast. Fittoria teaches elementary school in Palo Alto's Spanish Immersion Program. Pan is a former management consultant who started a community garden in Palo Alto.
