Terman Park: 661 Arastradero Road, 329-2606. Hours are: Tues. noon - 7 p.m. and Wed. - Sat. 2 - 6 p.m. Number of books: 9,855. Extensive paperback collection, separate catalog from the rest of the library system, all books lent on first-come, first-serve basis. The room adjacent to the library is the main sale room for the Friends of the Palo Alto Libraries.
Downtown: 270 Forest Ave., 329-2641. Hours are: Mon.-Sat. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Number of books: 18,670. Collections include books on tape, cassettes, phone books, children's paperbacks and business reference manuals.
Main: 1213 Newell Road. Hours are: Mon.-Fri. 10 a.m. - 9 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. General information (recording) 329-2436; reference 329-2664; circulation 329-2437. Number of books: 113,649. Collections include books on tape, cassettes, CD ROMs, CDs, college catalogs, non-English language books including books in Chinese, print enlarger, telephone directories, central reference collection, Palo Alto Historical Association files.
College Terrace: 2300 Wellesley St., 329-2298. Hours are: Mon.-Sat. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Number of books: 22,833. Collections include books on tape, adult and children's materials, CDs.
Children's Library: 1276 Harriet St., 329-2134. Hours are: Mon. and Wed. noon to 8 p.m., Tues., Thurs. Fri. & Sat., 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sun. 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Number of books: 37,110. Collections include books on tape, CD ROMs, CDs, non-English language books including a new collection of Chinese language books, books for teachers and teens, parenting books, grandparent kits. Toddler story hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays and some Wednesdays.
Mitchell Park: 3700 Middlefield Road, 329-2586. Hours are: Mon. - Thurs., noon to 9 p.m., Fri. and Sat. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sun. 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Number of books: 62,825. Collections include adult and children's materials, books on tape, cassettes, CDs, Spanish and Russian language collection. Special programs include TDD for the hearing impaired, 856-6839 and equipment for the visually impaired including a reading machine that converts printed text to spoken language, print enlarger, computer catalog terminal for sight-impaired, Internet workstation for sight impaired. Mitchell Park is also the headquarters of Operation Homebound, a program through which volunteers bring materials to Palo Alto residents who are unable to leave their homes due to disability or illness.
