A Palo Alto man remained in critical condition Monday after being in shot during what police say was an attempted home invasion robbery Oct. 22 in East Palo Alto. Dedric Patterson, 21, was in intensive care Monday at Stanford Hospital after undergoing surgery for bullet wounds to his stomach and legs, said Sgt. Don O'Keefe of the East Palo Alto Regional Investigative Bureau. O'Keefe said that Patterson and another man attempted to enter a house on Green Street at Lincoln Street at 10:30 a.m. when one of the men in the house shot the victim as Patterson was allegedly pointing a gun at other family members. Patterson and the other man then ran outside, where Patterson collapsed. One gun was found nearby. Police are searching for the second man. O'Keefe added that the district attorney will determine later if any charges will be filed against Patterson.
A man robbed the Comerica Bank in Menlo Park of $5,000 Oct. 18. Menlo Park Sgt. Paul Lucia said that a man walked into the bank at 800 Oak Grove Ave. and presented notes to two tellers, demanding money. He then fled on foot. The man is described as white, 5-10 tall, 175 pounds, with short red hair. He was wearing a dark sport coat, a white shirt with a red tie, and sunglasses.
