San Mateo County sheriff's deputies are asking for help in finding a homicide suspect. Jose Luis Arreola, 23, a.k.a. Gerardo Duran Tello, is wanted for questioning in the May 21 stabbing death of Gabriella Tello in East Palo Alto. Anyone with information on Arreola is asked to call Detective Bill Osborn or Detective Rick Babwin at 363-4051.
An East Palo Alto man was shot and wounded and then chased through a diner at 9 a.m. May 22. Nelson Pink, 23, was wounded in the abdomen after he was confronted by a man outside Crystal's Diner at 2390 Clarke St. Sgt. Don O'Keefe of the East Palo Alto Regional Investigative Bureau said the man who confronted Pink and demanded drugs, then began to chase him and shot at him several times, hitting him once. Pink ran into the diner, where several customers were eating breakfast, and managed to get away. Pink was treated and released at Stanford Hospital. The suspect reportedly frequents the diner. Anyone with information about him is asked to call Detective Terry Brown at 853-3177.
A Stanford University graduate student was found dead by his roommate May 19. The Santa Clara coroner determined that Patrick Thomas Dunn, a first-year doctoral student in chemistry, killed himself by poisoning himself with cyanide. Dunn, 26, was originally from Virginia.
Two East Palo Alto men were arrested May 22 and charged with possessing cocaine for sale. Manual Ibanez Ochoa, 46, and David Miranda Pineda, 29, were arrested when agents from the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force raided their home on Oakwood Avenue. Agents found $13,000 in cash and 10 ounces of cocaine, valued at $10,000.
