The Tale of the Allergist's Wife

"The Tale of the Allergist's Wife" will preview tonight at 8 p.m. at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto. Written by Charles Busch, the play chronicles an Upper West side matron suffering from mid-life malaise. Presented by the Palo Alto Players, it will open on Saturday at 8 p.m. and run through run through July 8. Regular show times are 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Tickets are $18 for tonight's preview; $22 for Sunday performances; $24 for Wednesday and Thursday performances; $25 for Friday evenings; $27 for Saturday evenings; $29 for Saturday's opening-night performance with a gala to follow. Dolly West's Kitchen

"Dolly West's Kitchen" will open TheatreWorks' 36th season this weekend at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St. Written by Frank McGuiness, the play is set during World War II and centers on an Irish family whose kitchen is the meeting place for Allies. The play will preview tonight and open on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Show times are Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesdays through Fridays at 8 p.m.; Saturdays at 2 and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $20-$50, with discounts available for youth, students, seniors and members. Summer exhibits at Palo Alto Art Center

The Palo Alto Art Center presents three new exhibitions: "Cluster: Lukas Felzmann," "Web/Metamorphosis: Yuriko Yamaguchi" and "Trusting Woods to Tempest Sea: Robert McCauley Leaf," on display June 18 through May 28.

A reception will take place tonight from 7:30 to 9 p.m. An artists' talk for Palo Alto Art Center upper-level members will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Docent-led tours will begin July 9 and continue every Saturday at 2 p.m. through Aug. 27. The Palo Alto Art Center is located at 1313 Newell Road in Palo Alto. The Center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday evenings 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. For more information please call (650) 329-2366.

ArtsIndia West

ArtsIndia West will present a closing reception tonight for its "Ashta Nayak: Eight Pioneers of Contemporary Indian Art" exhibition. The exhibition includes both recent and older works by the internationally recognized artists who comprised the Progressive Artists Group of Mumbai: M.F. Husain, F.N. Souza, S.H. Raza, Ram Kumar, Tyeb Mehta, Akbar Padamsee, V. Gaitonde and J. Swaminathan.

El Camino Youth Symphony

El Camino Youth Symphony will present its "Bon Voyage Concert" on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Gunn High School's Spangenberg Theatre, 780 Arastradero Road in Palo Alto.

The program, a preview of the Symphony's upcoming Central European tour, will include Bernstein's "Overture to Candide," Tchaikovsky's "Symphony No. 4" and Barber's "Violin Concerto," performed by special guest artist, violinist Daphne Wang. The concert will also take place on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1835 Valota Road in Redwood City. Tickets are $10/$5. Hidden Villa

Hidden Villa Farm and Wilderness Preserve will present a special outdoor Father's Day concert and barbeque on Sunday, featuring ZunZun and their 3-piece band, Chuchumbe. ZunZun is comprised of husband and wife duo Stephen Snyder and Gwynne Snyder Cropsey. They play over 30 folkloric instruments, highlighting the rich spectrum of cultures and environments of North, Central and South America.

Dinner will take place between 4 and 5:30 p.m. and the concert will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Admission is $15 adults; $12 students and seniors; $7.50 for children ages 6 to 12 (ages 2 and under are admitted free).
