Thursday

The Peninsula Symphony and Stanford Symphonic Chorus will perform tonight at 8 p.m. at Stanford's Memorial Church. The concert, entitled "In Remembrance," will feature great works inspired by hope. The program will include Takeo Kudo's "Interlude" and Eric Zeisl's "Requiem Ebraico," as well as psalm settings by Bloch, Mendelssohn and Bruckner. Jacob Marley's "Christmas Carol" will preview tonight at 8 p.m. at the Bus Barn Theatre, 97 Hillview Ave. in Los Altos. It will open on Friday and run through Dec. 18. Show times are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.; Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. on Nov. 28 and Dec. 5; Sunday evening at 7 p.m. on Dec. 12. Tickets are $20-$30. "The Odd Couple" will be presented through Nov. 20 at Gunn High School, 780 Arastradero Road in Palo Alto. Gunn Theatre will present both the original male and female versions of Neil Simon's classic tale of domestic culture shock. The female version be presented Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. The male version be presented Nov. 18 and 20 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $8; matinees cost $4. "Picnic" will be presented by the Palo Alto Players through Nov. 21 at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto. Written by William Inge, the play profiles a handsome drifter who wanders into the lives of six seemingly ordinary women. Show times are 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sundays. Ticket prices are $24 for Wednesday and Thursday performances; $25 for Friday evenings; $27 for Saturday evenings; $22 for Sunday matinees. "The Children's Hour" will be presented through Nov. 21 at Foothill College's Playhouse Theatre (Room 1301), 12345 El Monte Road in Los Altos Hills. Peninsula Youth Theatre will present "Seussical the Musical" today at 9:30 a.m. at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St. Additional show times are Friday at 9:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.; Saturday at 2 and 7:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Maria del Mar Bonet will perform tonight at 8 p.m. at Stanford University's Dinkelspiel Auditorium. Bonet is a Majorcan singer/songwriter who performs in her native Catalan. The concert will be presented by Stanford Lively Arts. World-music expert Sandy Miranda will give a talk and slide show about Maria del Mar Bonet and Mediterranean music at 6:45 p.m., which will be free and open to the public. Tickets are $38/$34. Half-price tickets are available for people age 15 and under, and discounts are available for students. "The Laramie Project" will be performed tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Castilleja Theater, 1310 Bryant St. in Palo Alto. The production will feature actors from Castilleja School, Mountain View High School, St. Francis and Sacred Heart. Additional show times are Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 general admission, $5 for students and will be available at the door from 20 minutes before the show. The Stanford University Singers will perform Robert D. Levin's edition of the Mozart "Requiem," tonight at 8 p.m. at Stanford's Memorial Church. Professor Marilyn Wyman will lecture about native North American artistic traditions tonight at the Community School of Music and Arts at Finn Center, Tateuchi Hall, 230 San Antonio Circle in Mountain View.
