HARVEST FOR HUNGRY . . . The Foundation for Global Community is asking anyone with extra fruit in their gardens to share their crop with the hungry, and anyone with extra time on their hands to join volunteers in picking citrus fruit tomorrow. Volunteer pickers meet at 8:30 a.m. at 222 High St., Palo Alto, for training and orientation. Trucks, orchard ladders and boxes are also needed. Pickers plan to leave some fruit with the residents; the rest is donated to Second Harvest Food Bank. For information, call Joni Diserens at (650) 740-7725.

IT'S ROSE CARE TIME . . . Lowell Cordas will teach a class on Rose Care and Pruning tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon at Gamble Garden Center, 1431 Waverley St., Palo Alto. The class will include a demonstration of proper pruning tools, care and sharpening of tools and maintenance tips. (Lowell will sharpen tools after class for $5.) Cost for the class is $20-25.
