WOMEN'S WELLNESS . . . Are you a woman between the ages of 30 and 70, looking for some free advice? Women's health specialists will speak on a number of health issues Saturday, May 11, from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Mid-Life Women's Wellness Conference and Health Fair at Stanford University Medical Centers' Fairchild Auditorium. Lectures will cover hormone-replacement therapy, heart disease, bladder function, colorectal health issues and sexuality. COPING WITH CAREGIVING . . . Caring for a family member who has Alzheimer's and dementia is unquestionably a difficult task. To aid caregivers, two clinical studies are in the works through Stanford's School of Medicine and the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. Volunteers are needed, including Latino and Chinese women. @newsitem:BONING UP . . . Kids in Palo Alto elementary schools are getting a lesson in health this month through a poster contest jointly sponsored by the school district and Palo Alto Medical Foundation. The topic: Calcium as a critical nutrient for healthy bones. Students in grades 3-5 will be stretching their artistic muscles for this project, and the posters will be displayed in doctors' examining rooms and elsewhere in the clinic in June.
