Stanford women see long winning streak end

The lack of depth from Stanford's bench was the sore spot Sunday, as the fifth-ranked Cardinal dropped its first Pac-12 Conference contest in over four years, losing to visiting California, 67-55, and dropping in the conference standings.

Lack of bench depth may be the problem, but twice (Connecticut too) the the team seemed confused and dispirited, missing open shots, not taking open shots, missing lay-ups, making a low percentage of open 3 point shots, constantly checking with the bench as if the game plan needed adjusting but no adjustments came. In other words, much that went wrong came not from Cal's athleticism and high energy but from the team not doing what it usually does well.

I'd say it came from he team not doing much of anything. They has four shot-clock violations. They simply were not playing very hard and not responding to Cal's aggressive play.
