Public gardens across the country have been adding vegetable gardens and Filoli has discussed opening our historic vegetable garden for a number of years. When the pandemic hit, there were a number of reasons we knew that now was the time to move toward opening the historic Vegetable Garden at Filoli. We knew we were onto something by how incredibly popular and engaged guests were by the vegetables in the Sunken Garden during our 2021 Fruitful Garden exhibit. As Filoli's director of horticulture, I am so thankful to the donors who made the project possible and I look forward to future opportunities to work with community partners in the Vegetable Garden!
