Shouldn’t the police investigates how the teens come into possession of the gun and what are their intentions of bringing the gun to Stanford Shopping Mall late at night?

@eileen, they’re not arrested because they’re teens who committed a non violent offense under recent changes to the penal code. Yes, an accidental discharge is non violent. Voters and the community have also made it clear that they want a stop to the over policing of black and brown bodies. They need love and diversion, not incarceration.

Is it legal to carry a loaded unregistered ghost gun
in your car? Why were these kids not arrested for that?
Are the kids expected to go to counseling or some sort of program?
Otherwise, they will be back on the street tomorrow with their loaded guns.

@eileen I think I answered your sensible question in my previous comment. Pathologically compassionate local voters have ensured that teens are virtually untouchable by police.
If you want rational response to crime, to treat criminals as the threat to society they are along with law and order there’s many states in the Union that provide that. California is not one of them.

I think Public Safety should take priority over the coddling of teens out with guns (who shoot the gun off in public).

They should have had the 'safety' on but one should never trust a safety setting.
The basic rule, "treat every firearm as if it were loaded" aptly applies.
And of course...alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, crystal meth, heroin/fentynal, LSD and other substances do not mix well with firearms.
They should have been more careful and better yet, not been that position to begin with.
