So now to lift from the funny man in the New Yorker we are witnessing a miracle the transformation of Zuckerberg. He will now save the world in his metaverse as Mother
Teresa.

Their logo is not a "slightly compressed infinity sign". You need to see it rotating to really understand it.

The logo looks like an intrauterine device. In Hebrew the word metra is death. In a rush to change the conversation Zuckerberg has made a mega branding gaffe.

The word meta means death in Hebrew.

Uh Oh - it’s metastasizing. Zuckerberg hiding an evil empire behind a new logo is a chameleon gimmick to avoid scrutiny. Hide the kids.

Technically, Meta is the female form of the verb "to die." Colloquially it means "she dies." ("he" which means "she" in Hebrew sometimes is omitted) ("who" means "he." Yes Abbott & Costello were Jewish.). Meta also is the adjective form of "to die" (or technically, I guess, a past participle).
Zuck apparently meant it to refer to the "meta-universe" -- as in, the existence of an infinity of universes to encompass all potentiality of choices and outcomes. This is demonstrated by the infinity sign.
TLDR: Zuck tries to become ruler of all universes, and instead declares his company dead. From his mouth to G-d's ears.

THUMBS up to Hinrich for "metastasizing".
It's hard to be fully enthused about AI. Robotics are awesome and it is fascinating to see what the folks at companies like Boston Dynamics are able to do and the for-good applications of their genius, but there's a dark side to AI that could drive home the point that sometimes tech goes a step too far.

Yes! And one obvious dark side is the unemployment created by the delivery robots to cite just one example.
