The Gunn girls soccer team beat host Milpitas, 2-0, and remained a game behind Santa Clara Valley Athletic League El Camino Division leader Los Altos with two matches to play.

The Titans (10-7-2, 8-2) are at home Friday against Lynbrook (7-9-1, 3-6-1) at 6 p.m. Los Altos (9-6-1, 9-1) was idle Wednesday and hosts Milpitas at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Freshman Emersen Sweeney ended a scoreless game with a second-half goal, assisted by Morgan Cianfichi and Danika Heaney.

Goalies Ellie Roodman and Nicole Smith each shared a scoreless half in the net as Gunn won its second straight and its eighth in the past 10 games.

In the SCVAL De Anza Division, Palo Alto and visiting Saratoga played to a 1-1 tie. The Vikings (2-10-5, 1-6-3) travel to play Santa Clara at 6 p.m. Friday before finishing the season at home next Wednesday against Fremont at 3:30 p.m.

Boys soccer

Palo Alto topped host Saratoga, 5-0, on Wednesday in a SCVAL De Anza Division match. The Vikings (9-3-6, 4-2-4) host Santa Clara at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

In the SCVAL El Camino Division, Gunn swamped visiting Milpitas, 6-0, Wednesday. The Titans (8-4-4, 4-2-4) travel to play Lynbrook at 6 p.m. Friday.

In the Peninsula Athletic League, Menlo-Atherton defeated visiting Aragon, 2-0, on Wednesday to set up a showdown for first place at Burlingame on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

The Bears (9-5-3, 7-2-2) can move into first place with a win over the Panthers (10-3-3, 7-1-3), who beat Woodside on Wednesday.
