President Barack Obama is scheduled to visit two Palo Alto homes on Thursday, June 6, to raise funds for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

The chair of that committee, Sen. Michael Bennet of Colorado, and Sen. Charles Schumer of New York are expected to be accompanying the president.

President Obama is scheduled to arrive at Moffett Field Thursday afternoon and depart on Friday morning.

Tickets are $2,500 per person to attend a 5 p.m. reception in the Palo Alto home of Marci & Mike McCue, and $32,400 per person (the maximum allowed per calendar year) to attend a 6:30 p.m. dinner at the Palo Alto home of Vinod and Neeru Khosla. The maximum donation includes opportunities for discussion and photos, according to the program for the evening.

“Just as he helped House Democrats recently, the president is back in town to help us hold the Senate,” said event spokesman Wade Randlett in a letter. “Both events will be at private homes, so will be especially intimate. With key (second-term) issues ranging from immigration reform to climate change to trying again on gun violence prevention, the stakes for holding the Senate (in the November 2014 election) couldn’t be higher.”

Khosla gave $1 million in 2012 to Priorities USA Action, a political action committee that spent $66 million to defeat Republicans, according to Federal Election Commission records and OpenSecrets.org, the website of the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit Center for Responsive Politics.

  4. Perhaps the President should be doing the job we elected him to do instead of continuing his never ceasing campaigning and fund raising junkets. He has failed to satisfactorily address the Benghazi cover up, the illegal targeting of conservative groups by the IRS, the Justice Department’s scandal with the AP and the targeting of a Fox news reporter’s phone and e-mail records. He claims to be clueless as to how all these things happened without his knowledge, learning of some by watching the televised news. Does he really think we’re that stupid?
    Where’s the HOPE?

Soon to be Nat’l Security Adviser Susan Rice explained it all in her testimony. The Secretary of State testified and reported n the whole tragic thing. Scandal (real or perceived) is not an agenda.

THere has been NO publicized advanced notice from the PAPD, Secret Service, or anyone else on the parking restrictions, traffic diversions, 101 close-down, and all the rest of the routine for this visit of POTUS – (President of the United States). There are big parking restrictions now in the Crescent Park area, and the northbound evening commute from San Jose will be one giant mess unless hopefully, he will come via the Central Expressway which has a close connection to the VIP terminal on the north side of San Jose Airport. Anyway you look at it, it will still be a frustrating commute.

  9. 39 year residents agrees with @35 year resident. When is this guy in his office just DOING HIS JOB? Also, it’s the height of arrogance to come into the Bay Area at 6pm, which is an already a very slow commute. There’s no reason in the world why the ‘Ruler of the Free World’ can’t come in to visit his West Coast ATM at 1pm when there will be less impact on people who are driving home from their jobs, stressed, tired, and overworked and in most cases, underpaid. Add to that the irony of all that money being raised at a personal vanity dinner for more political infighting when less than a mile away, people in another community are poor and killing one another with impunity. Take even HALF the money raised tonight and contribute it to a public program to help those kids in that community. There’s no longer any HOPE for CHANGE. The CHANGE is all going to pad the war chests of politicians.

    Do you like George Soros, Sheldon Adelson and Big Oil buying elections? Or rather have taxpayers finance less expensive elections, with politicians being “bought and paid for” by us? It works in Arizona and Maine at the state level.

    More simply: are you whining because it’s Obama, or do you want change?

  12. The president is doing his job. Unfortunately, unless we have public funding of elections, all elected officers and potential elected officers have to raise money. There are far more important things to worry about ( be you on the right or the left) than being briefly inconvenienced for a fundraising visit. I am not worried that President Obama is neglecting his duties. It would help if the Congress could get its act together and do some work, too.

  13. It is abhorrent to me how much money is spent on elections. The outdated length of time it takes to elect a president. I can’t believe that electioneering starts taking place so early nowadays.

    This money should be spent on better things. How about using some of this money to improve the country’s infrastructure, or reducing the deficit? Other countries spend a lot less time and money on elections. But, of course this is the U S of A and everything has to be bigger, better and more expensive!

    Regarding the elections, last time I checked, Obama was on his 2nd term. So why is he fundraising? I would love to hear about the great initiatives he is working on these days, between hosting celebrities at the WH and his regular rounds of golf. I’ll help you out: start your retort with the moral relativism and invoke Bush. Obama is like Bush II — both horrible.

Those who bought into his Hope and Change and most transparent gov’t ever BS are either low IQ voters or just those far left “Americans?” who are all for a means to an end, even if it trumps the basic freedoms and rights that our forefathers gave us. The cats out of the bag and we true patriots are not buying it anymore. Using his over expanded and over reaching gov’t jack booted IRS thugs to intimidate and silence any opposition to his political will is sick and disgusting and reminiscent of Goebbels and Stalin’s tactics of the early 20th century. That’s what helped him win this last election and it’s pathetic.
