Electronics and jewelry were stolen from an apartment in the 1800 block of Ednamary Way in Mountain View Tuesday (Dec. 14), police said.
Investigators think something like a plastic credit card may have been used to gain entry to the apartment, according to Mountain View police spokeswoman Liz Wylie.
The doorknob to the apartment was locked before everyone in the family left that morning, Wylie said. However, a burglar or burglars got inside the apartment sometime between 7:35 a.m. and 3:50 p.m. when one of the family members returned.
A laptop, digital camera, cell phone, two iPod Nanos, a suitcase and several pieces of jewelry were stolen in the burglary, said Wylie, who encouraged Mountain View residents to always lock their deadbolts, which cannot be unlocked with just a credit card.
“Deadbolts are extremely effective against this type of burglary,” she said.
why would someone pick this particular residence unless they knew them?
Be careful of the information you give to your friens and classmates, this was the only apartment in the complex that was targeted? Times are too hard, they don’t sound like they were rich, so it had to be someone they knew.
It really bothers me when poor people are targeting other poor people, It doesn’t sound like these people were well off, so why take from hard-working people that can’t afford to lose what valuables they do have? That bothers me to no end!
