Stephanie Smith, recipient of the Alice W. Rooke Daughters of the American Revolution medical scholarship, was the guest of honor at the El Palo Alto Chapters September meeting at The Forum in Cupertino. El Palo Alto Chapter sponsored Stephanie in her application for the scholarship.
Stephanie is an accomplished young woman with a very impressive resume.
She grew up in Tracy, CA, graduated from Yale with a bachelors degree in biology and a masters degree in public health, worked at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, and returned to the Bay Area to attend medical school at Stanford (where she is currently in her second year).
Stephanies interest in cancer survivorship, support, education, and care has evolved over the years. She has volunteered, participated in research, and found her passion in public health and ultimately medicine. She dedicates her journey into medicine in honor and in memory of those who have influenced and inspired her.
