Palo Alto deserves a seasoned manager that can manage the fundamentals e.g. public safety, planning, public work, community services etc. [Portion removed by Palo Alto Online staff.]

This hit the national scene through my professional organization. I am a "boomer" who is managing in retirement-I retired from the Commonwealth of PA and the federal government to a small urban PA city. This is a tough profession with harsh challenges. To get someone is going to require some thought on job protection. While I can walk tomorrow, most managers are always faced with a political reality of job insecurity. Understand what managers are not-they are not political leaders-and reward them for what they are-CEOs of major organizations.

Ken -

Wouldn't the CEO of a major organization have tens of thousands of people working for them?

It's more like the CEO of a small organization, isn't it?

Don't miss out on the discussion!
