In other news, 90% of S model sales were to Palo Alto residents. S models have yet to be see outside the peninsula.

@Chris - It is like a Prius but better, because you can feel good about yourself and show off how much money you have at the same time.

Heard last night, from an insider, that there were some errors in the report about profit. Tesla merely broke even, but hey, that's a start!

Seems dumb, tho, if the client base is on the Peninsula that Tesla is moving to San Jose.

Tesla isn't moving to San Jose. Back in 2009 there was talk of building a plant from scratch in SJ, but they're settled in PA for the HQ and Fremont for the manufacturing plant.

Error/correct info?! Doesn't matter to me...the stock went up $15 today!
I Love Tesla!
And yes, Mr. Recycle, you can feel better, cuz you LOOK BETTER than a stupid least Tesla owners will most likely go the speed limit and go faster in the fast lane - unlike prius drivers (can't stand them!!) LOL, I really do!

Tried to buy a Tesla this past Fall.....they wanted 50% down in advance before even placing an order. That was $55,000 down for the S model with the largest battery! Then we could finance the rest for three years. Thanx, but no thanx.

BTW, Tesla IS moving its showroom from Menlo Park to San Jose this summer. Seems silly, when most of the buyers are right here. I have yet to see a Tesla south of Mtn View.

Why are there so many grumpy people that just complain about the Prius all the time? I think they are great cars. Amazing engineering. I test drove one several months back and I would get one if I really needed a car, they are comfortable, roomy, peppy, reasonably priced, and they get over 40 mpg, some friends report 45 mpg ... what is to hate about that? Nothing. Just jealous. Cars are cars.

I'm glad Tesla is doing well, but I am not ready to buy an all electric car that has limited range, especially for such a pile of cash. Probably should not be living in Palo Alto since I don't have tons of cash to throw away, but more power to those who do ... as long as they pay their taxes too! ;-)

$5k is the down required to build the car. It has been that for a long time.
