East Palo Alto council to discuss child's death

East Palo Alto city officials are looking for answers in the death of a 6-year-old girl who was struck and killed in a crosswalk on Bay Road this week.

Seems the answer is pretty clear, there should be a stop light at that intersection.

I see it all the time. People who stomp into the yellow cross-hatched crosswalks in the street without even looking first as if the painted yellow lines will somehow protect them from the 2000 lb vehicles heading their way. Whatever happened to looking both ways before entering a street (crosswalk or not!)? We must teach our children (and some of our adults).

There was a protest at the police dept about this issue. How come that wasn't reported by The Weekly?

I agree with Iseeit. I cannot tell you how many times I see people, especially with childern, breezing through the cross walks and not even looking. A friend once mentioned its like they are looking for a law suit. Its almost an arrogance. As for myself I live in fear until Im on the other side. I even stop to look bothways. Guess Im just old school.
