Climate change hysteria at City Hall tonight, apparently

Original post made by Sally, Palo Verde, on Oct 27, 2010

Apparently there is some type of climate change propaganda event going on tonight, at City Hall. My neighbor got an invitation to this event from Pat Burt, our mayor. "Friends,I hope that you can join us for a reception recognizing the Climate Change Art exhibition before it goes on tour. The reception will be this
Wednesday starting at 5:30 PM in the lobby of the Palo Alto City Hall,250 Hamilton Ave. Feel free to invite your friends."

I knew that I had heard a pretty good retort to such an event, and I searched this blog for it:

“THE ARCTIC OCEAN IS WARMING UP, ICEBERGS ARE GROWING SCARCER AND IN SOME PLACES THE SEALS ARE FINDING THE WATER TOO HOT. REPORTS ALL POINT TO A RADICAL CHANGE IN CLIMATE CONDITIONS AND HITHERTO UNHEARD-OF TEMPERATURES IN THE ARCTIC ZONE. EXPEDITIONS REPORT THAT SCARCELY ANY ICE HAS BEEN MET WITH AS FAR NORTH AS 81 DEGREES 29 MINUTES. GREAT MASSES OF ICE HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY MORAINES OF EARTH AND STONES, WHILE AT MANY POINTS WELL KNOWN GLACIERS HAVE ENTIRELY DISAPPEARED.”

—US WEATHER BUREAU, 1922

I think Pat Burt is too smart to believe in this Al Gore hysteria. It surprises me that he does not use his own critical analytical powers to stand up to the hysteria. Yes, he is a mayor in a reflexively spooked town, but he is thus required to stand up against hysteria.

Come on, Pat!

Amazing that Global Climate Change has the same cure as Global Warming which had the same cure as The Coming Ice Age - a massive increase in government power over individual choice.

Well, the city council can't be too worried about climate change given their stance on HSR
