How about that Obama

Original post made by Ray Griffin, Another Palo Alto neighborhood, on May 14, 2010

From the Oracle of Abu Ghraib, Seymour Hersh comes this new report from Afghanistan.

Hersh says, " And I’ll tell you right now, one of the great tragedies of my country is that Mr. Obama is looking the other way, because equally horrible things are happening to prisoners, I mean, to those we capture in Afghanistan. They’re being executed on the battlefield."

I think I would rather have a dog barking at me in a Bush prison.

When interrogation of prisoners is not permitted, prisoners have only negative value. Taking a prisoner and keeping him secure is a hazardous activity. I, and many of my veteran friends, predicted a falloff in prisoner taking.

"I think I would rather have a dog barking at me in a Bush prison."

An easy comment to make from the safety of one's armchair.

Walter, that was my first thought also.

"Unintended" ( hmm..perhaps not?) consequences are extremely obvious to anyone with half a brain who thinks a new policy through to what will be the result.

You and I and several others absolutely predicted this the moment it became policy that there would be "no more enhanced interrogation".

Of course this is the result!

No upside left to keeping prisoners, and nothing but down side: risk of being accused, falsely as always, of wrong doing, cost of upkeep, watching prisoners being treated better than the military guarding them, media mountains out of molehills.

Don't blame the military at all.
