do hairdressers have specialities?

Original post made by thinning hair, College Terrace, on Nov 30, 2009

I'm a 63 year old woman who has always had baby fine hair, and now it is even thinner and finer. Do hairdressers ever specialize in something like this? I don't think recommendations are permitted in this forum, so I'm just curious to know if such a specialty even exists, or if people just go to any old hairdresser. Thanks!

I think some specialise in color or cutting or ethnic hair techniques, but unfortunately not hair type. For me it has always been a trial and error experience to find the right stylist. You can check out reviews and recommendations about salons on www.yelp.com. Good luck.
