Given how hard the Palo Alto Police tried to convict an innocent man the last time they claimed they had "identified the suspect"--the taxpayers need to be asking: "what makes this person guilty in the eyes of the police?"

It might also be interesting to know if this guy is an "illegal", or was here with the appropriate papers.

Calm down folks. First of all, of course the sick bas#*rd will die. Everyone does. It's a matter of HOW he will die and when.
Now, Morton, the taxpayers really have no business asking the Police about their course of business, now do they? This is not something to be tried in the press, at a local coffee shop or an ACLU meeting. Have you heard of the Constitution? Yes, it even still applies in precious Palo Alto. Please respect that fact.
Now, If you are lucky, you may even get picked for this jury. How sweet would that be? Then, you can form an opinion of the Police, the investigation, the evidence and the alleged suspect's defense. Then, and only then will these things become clear to folks with similar malicious opinions of Law Enforcement. Of course, this case will NEVER see a jury trial. Can you even imagine that? A heinous, disgusting crime that would make even the most hardened soul shed a tear for this helpless victim, a sweet, dear woman, who had lived through nearly every event of the last century.
The "legal status" status of this alleged perpetrator has no real bearing on this crime or anything else. It's about what happened and who is responsible for these atrocities.

"... had since fled to Mexico"

Was this guy even legal to begin with? Very unlikely!!

The Mexican people are wonderful all things considered, but criminals and drugs flow back and forth across the Mexican border with ease ...

Not exactly like the Ellis Island immigrants who were grateful to get here, came legally, and didn't bring drugs and crime along for the ride ...

I wonder if that dear woman is alive to know her attacker is in custody? As I recall, she put up a good fight, but at 94, I doubt that she ever saw full recovery. She is a hero of mine and in my view could have done nothing to her attacker that was uncalled for. I hope she inflicted some pain.

Nora Charles is a registered user.

Sickening. May there be a special place in hell for criminals of his ilk. If she is still with us, prayers to this dear, courageous woman.

Civitas. The best and the most drugs come from the USA.

This is a nation of meth. Huge weed crops. I woud think the only imported drug that adds up would be Cocaine.

And then there is the Pa style get them from your private DOCTOR. Right RUSH. But in Palo Alto the private doctor pusher is ok. He pays some taxes and has a great office. Nice MBZ doc?
