Zuckerberg has such bad judgment in these things, I would not support anyone he does.
Apparently, Zuck supports education, which Palo Altan's should agree with, but perhaps they don't want the college competition. Or perhaps it's jealousy.
Here's a more in depth link which states Zuckerberg donated $100 million to Newark public schools: Web Link
While it's nice of Zuck to donate uber-millions to education in New Jersey, I wonder how well the money is doing to solve the problems. Various high tax and high expenditure (in Education) cities still have dismal education and scores. How effective is throwing money at that, considering we have been doing that for years, including in California?
I can't help but be curious as to the tax breaks these billionaires receive for their donations, and are the donations stock?
"considering we have been doing that for years, including in California?"
We have? Where does California rank in the nation?
Sure hope Zucky has plenty of donuts!
There are plenty of under-performing school districts in California, including several right here in the Bay Area. How well are the kids doing in the schools right next to the new Facebook HQ in east Menlo? Zuckerberg must be donating to Christy in exchange for political favors.
Zuckerberg is trying too hard to look good. He has made some large and questionable donations, including 500 mil to the people who want to make the Bay Area one big Silly Conniving Valley and take away individual cities' rights. His judgment is off, that is for sure. Chris Christy, really??? No one under 45 likes him except Zuck. I do not think he has a mind of his own anymore, and seems too easily influenced by others. Employees of his who are friends of my Son's say he is child-like, without adult sensibilities, and that his wife and older sister make most decisions for him. This is why the investors do not have confidence in him and feel he cannot lead, which led to Facebook stock devaluation.
My 5 sons and 4 daughters are friends with almost all of the Facebook employees . They say that they all love Zuck -- he has made them wealthy. In fact a Facebook employee as offered to by my home on Tennyson for triple what is worth. BTW, according to my sources Zucks sister and wife dutifully serve him. He is the boss
News reports say that women's rights groups are picketing in front of Zuckerberg's house tonight. Is this because of Zuckerberg's infamous stalking software? Or because of something Christie is fighting for?
It was due to Christie's scumbag dealings w/Planned Parenthood.
There is only one house for sale on Tennyson Avenue, and it has had no takers in six months at 4.3 million, so what are you talking about, horseanducati? Why so mean?
Anyway, only the upper management and investors made money at the Facebook IPO. The other employees got far less than they were promised by Zuck, which is why morale is low there. Do you not read the business section of the papers? Most of their money was taxed away, and they could never buy a house with it!
Apparently, according to the papers, some of Zuck's employees were at the protest last nite, due to his republican leanings that are objectionable. Read and learn.

Who said my house was for sale? I just said I was offered 3X the value by a Facebook employee.
BTW, check all of Tennyson before you make claims about homes for sale

You contradict yourself--if the stock went down how did investors make money? Also you say only upper management made money, but then state that other employees made far less---so they made money as well, correct?? Also how would you now who has cashed out their options and who has not--so how do you know who has made money?

Which papers? I checked online at a couple of sites and none of them mentioned where the protesters were employed. So how do you know? In fact they mentioned that facebook employees helped the guests to get into the house.

Apparently, some FB employees were paid to help out.
The IBD and WSJ have both had several articles about the FacePlant, as THEY call it!
The Chron, the Merc, the NY Times, the PA Post, the PA Daily all have articles about the protest.
So e of it I learned of in advance from a neighbor who went their to protest, and some of it I learned of today from the same neighbor.
My friend certainly did. NOT get anywhere NEAR the 500K she was promised, in the last payout in December, and some people were foolish enough in upper management to buy houses on the promise of what they thought they were getting, and when they did not, the banks called their loans. All in violation of SEC laws! There was a write up about that months ago in the WSJ. You can ask any local real estate agent.
Which SEC laws were violated? My uncle at the SEC says there was no violation of the law because no CEO would promise -a 500k payout. And if they were irresponsible enough to buy houses they could not afford.....
I agree with the above poster -- lets see some links to these claims
It is a violation of the SEC to procure a loan based on an IPO payout before you get it. It is a violation of SEC law for a bank to lend against an IPO payout before the customer has received it. Probably why the bank (BofA, I have been told) is calling the loans now. Google it.
