Coming to the whitest zip code in the country on Juneteenth. Says all we need to know. But hey. I used to live in Atherton, just saying there are some notable POC living there, but I doubt they will be at this gathering. People at an event just taking iphone pics, when they could be interacting and making a difference.

Biden is coming to Atherton because that’s where the money is.

No start time sounds rather casual. More like an open house? If he does win, he'll be 87 when he leaves office. Is this good for the country?

@Jennifer. 87 and full of spunk, a steady mind and an incredible wealth of experience. He’s also not afraid to choose and empower highly competent staff.
Recall the chaos of Trumps revolving door?
The alternatives are:
a grifting, narcissistic predator who will potentially be serving time
Right wing so-called Christians who spew hateful rhetoric and want women and the LGBT community back in the kitchen and closet
Anti vax environmentalist

Since Obama and Clinton both spent many occasions visiting town, all I can say, is don't try to get anywhere in a hurry on Monday. The roads will suddenly be closed without warning.

When President's visit the Bay Area, traffic becomes a nightmare. I really wish they could work around "tax payers" schedule. This happens every time a President or Vice President makes an appearance in the Bay Area. Can't the President's use Zoom to communicate to residence when they need money for the next election.

@Jennifer (from) "another community:"
Biden has done a spectacular job so far, building the economy "from the bottom up and the middle out. He has done a much better than I or pretty much anyone else thought he could do. He has done more than anyone since FDR to help out common folks. Yes, he is going to Atherton but as someone else said, that's where the money is. He is sharp. I expect he will do a great job in his next term too.

Let's be honest here, with 35% approval rating for Biden, the Democrats need to line up another person to run next year. The comments about the train to India and the God save the Queen were not very bright. The Dems have plenty of younger candidates that can run and probably win.

A recent poll (7 hrs. ago) showed 71% of Americans think Biden is "too old" to run for president, including "almost half of Democrats." It's not only his age, it's his health. "God save the Queen" refers to the British National Anthem. What does that have to do with gun control in Connecticut? .I agree that the Democrats (and the Republicans) should go with someone younger. And good physical and mental health should be a given for obvious reasons. I think we can all agree that running the country isn't easy.

Have to wonder who picked this Palo Alto Baylands event locale and time. Someone who does not regularly go to the baylands? Tomorrow has predicted 17 knot winds as is typical most afternoons there which will wreck havoc on any reporters' sound systems outdoors and an indoor venue that can't hold more than perhaps 50 people. Or maybe this is just a photo op intended for him not to speak while he just walks the Lucy Evans Nature Center boardwalk or strolls on a levy to see some bay mud because at 1 pm Monday it's a rising tide with high tide not until 3:45pm or so. Should of piked a King tide or at least a local high tide time to sell the story of ocean levels rising. Mr. Biden and other out of towners: watch out for the swallows' pooping as they feed their chicks in nests this time of year under the Nature Center's eaves. A beautiful swallow flying circus there a few days ago.

Ironically they chose the Baylands since Palo Alto undersized its plans for the levy’s so the planned levies are now projected to only provide full protection until 2070 and that’s based on models which have already been shown to be undersized. Anyone who thinks adding 3 extra feet is sufficient has not been keeping up with the latest models and papers.

@Resident: sad commentary on American elections and resulting leadership that someone is elected (or not recalled) b/c the alternatives are worse. A common question I hear: can't we do better than this?

With the news that he is going to the Baylands he will see one of the best and yet worst parts of town. Best in that there is the wildlife, worst in that people are not encouraged to be there. The Interpretive Center will not hold anyone other than the tv crews if that! The parking for the Interpretive is not just outside but a short walk for all that equipment to be carried or dragged. No idea what that will do to the pathway!
But the fact that he will be there will make traffic on Embarcadero impossible for locals particularly as no time will be announced in advance and anyone trying to get to where they are going who use Embarcadero/101/Bayshore (post office workers for example) are going to get stuck.

There are many sandbags along the path to the Lucy Evans Center. Perhaps it shows how high tides are a problem already or it is a trap for someone who is known to have issues navigating sandbags.

Whoever chose the Bay lands for Biden to visit, should be more transparent & remind everyone, that the section of Land, use to be EAST PALO ALTO. It was stolen and should be given back as Reparation.
This just goes to Show, "It's Not what You know, Its Who you know"! Their Fake Environmentalist Farced & Selfishness has overlooked that almost everyone wants an EXIT off of the Dumbarton Bridge and NOT some Nature "Hugging" plot of land. Created (solely) for those that want to look at Bird & Mice critters that will regenerate by themselves anyway. Did you know that they (genocide) The Crows. Yes! They pour "Wax" over their Eggs, and shoot them, just because The Crows are Smart enough in surviving. Hypocrites. (this is what The Tour Guides tell you when you take Their Swamp Tours.
Do People know that there is a "Sewage plant" there and that they are walking with Their cameras on top of a FORMER "Garbage Dump"? There was once a THRIVING Marina with a Restaurant? People enjoyed it. Then came the "Destroyers".
"The Powers that be" destroyed all the restaurants that were there, that brought "JOY" to mostly everyone and NOT those exclusive "Car" Dealerships, that cater to the Top 1%..
That area could easily be transformed, combining a Nature Walk (along the Bay) while inviting Nature! I saw yesterday, that they are creating (inner actions) for the Humans along the Dumbarton Bridge. That's okay. Just keep some room for an EXIT, to widen that section connecting to Hwy101. This will keep the Traffic OUT of East Palo Alto. People first. Critters second. Put the Traffic where it belongs. It'll cut down on the "Sand Dust" that is emitted into those poor Souls Lungs!
The Selfishness has turned E. Palo Alto into a 2.5 miles of "Turnabouts" Speed Bumps numerous Stop Signs to deal with the "Cut through Traffic". They are dealing with Greedy/Selfish Developers and Unknowledgable Council Members that have "NO" City designing experience.

Looked to me like President Biden was in front of the boat launching dock at low tide (facing Mountain View), nothing to do with East Palo Alto or the Lucy Evans Nature Center. Correct me if you see podium situated differently than what I think.
Newsom intro remarks suddenly lean centrist. I wonder why………….
Biden is a mystery to me.
I just can’t get a read on him.
He SEEMS quite frail. Likely he should retire soon.
Trump is out of the question. Unqualified - and read any book about him and one finds numerous documented reasons to fully reject him.
I look at this stuff impartially.
Kamala Harris is the least qualified VEEP this country has ever had. She should not hold any public office. Good luck getting a private sector job; someone can give her make work in an institute or etc. I’m still laughing at her elementary level speech lecturing the highly educated engineers and staff at Applied Materials. OMG….they should have been lecturing her. Crazy how Silicon Valley is disrespected - except for fundraising $$$ - by these politicians.
As a centrist independent I will actively work for a third party candidate.

If Joe went another mile up the Bay he would see FB's main campus which has built and is building millions of sq ft of new office buildings at Sea Level, I'm confused. What about global warming and the oceans rising?

Indeed, Mama. Looks like he needed 2 mats to keep him from tripping as he walked from the Sand Point dirt parking lot by the lecturn to the photo opportunity on the pier.
Noticed Air Force 1 was airborne flying towards SFO before 2 pm on Monday after his Baylands stop. Huh? An afternoon event in Los Gatos and then Westley's house in Atherton this evening. What else on the schedule today, Tuesday and Wednesday needing AF1 north of Moffett this afternoon? Aerial photo ops of AF1 over the Golden Gate Bridge? Special aerial SF Bay tours for VIPs like the Governor and his pals?
Wondering where the PG&E substation "in Palo Alto" is. Most likely the big one in East Palo Alto on the entrance road to the Cooley Landing baylands park. Why didn't Biden go there to have visuals of both his sea-level-rising and electric-grid spending messages? Doesn't he like the East Palo Alto City Council? Meanwhile, the California PUC and the Governor wants us to pay for power on an income-sliding scale. Wondering how that is going to balance the PG&E books.

Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund
For the last 30 years, the Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund has given away almost $10 million to local nonprofits serving children and families. 100% of the funds go directly to local programs. It’s a great way to ensure your charitable donations are working at home.
