EDD exists to help people who lost their job through no fault of their own, to get back to work, and provide 6 months of benefits which is plenty of time to find a job. With a reported shortage of workers (or at least that's what we've been told) for at least the last year there should be no problem getting a job with comparable pay and benefits. And when the businesses are re-built, the employees can go back to work on Middlefield.
