What Segal says about how differentiation can create a sense of belonging and more engaged students resonates for us. Our bored kid became depressed and did not want to go to school unless they had a teacher who got it and found ways to engage them. I hear this from many parents. Your kid has hit or miss years depending on whether the teacher has been equipped to differentiate and meet all students where they are at. The miss years really stink.

Segal is smart enough to also talk about the important part of making sure teachers have support to make differentiation work. Her deep education experience shows. It's been interesting to watch other candidates adopt her platform on this after hearing her explain how it works.

I think having at least one educator with local and recent classroom experience on the board would do wonders for this district. What a concept to have someone who can see decisions from the perspective of what actually happens in a classroom.

I just learned Jesse is a lawyer, too. That makes 2 or 3 lawyers on the board already. My decision is made.
