Just WHAT is Newsom thinking this time? He comes up with a lot real "winners". The price of gasoline is being driven by demand exceeding a Covid limited supply. If you give residents of CA $11 billion additional money to buy scarce gasoline, won't that just drive up gasoline prices even more? Micro economics 101. The REAL solution is to increase the supply of gasoline available in CA. Maybe CA could temporarily suspend its strict fuel blending requirements instead? This would allow importation of gasoline from cheaper states that don't presently make CA's special blend. Nah. That would make too much sense. God, I miss Jerry Brown. He'd never make a simple mistake like this.

A temporary suspension of the .51 cent gas tax makes more sense but it was shot down by the Assembly. He does throw money at voters when he's looking at re-election. Free BART to work sounds nice.

Newsom is such an empty suit.

How about a rebate check to gas using vehicle owners? Aren't they the ones paying the gas tax? Why should EV owners get a rebate, they don't pay the gas tax?
