Becker bill would restore public access to police radio communications

Police departments throughout California would be required to make their radio communications accessible to the press and the public under new legislation proposed by state Sen. Josh Becker.

This has to be a good thing. We need better communication as to what is going on when we as residents know there is a problem. Nextdoor is not the way to get our information, but that has been the source of all local news lately. The nextdoor rumor mill is the place to go for many nowadays.

Finally. We need more transparency, not excuses. We also need to know sooner rather than later when crimes are happening near us so we can protect ourselves.
