New district lines could spark heated race for Marc Berman's seat

Original post made on Dec 24, 2021

Most Midpeninsula residents won't see a dramatic shift when California adopts new boundaries for state Senate, state Assembly and Congressional districts. One exception is Marc Berman, whose path to reelection may get more complicated.

What a fortuitous opportunity for Palo Altans to be better served. We deserve more than mediocrity. Assembly Member Evan Low has my enthusiastic support and vote.

Good riddance to both of them! Too bad the redistricting couldn't eliminate both of these left leaning socialist sympathizers.

It is time for a change; career politicians aren't getting the job done. That NYT article that shamed Palo Alto on housing included a salient point that was overshadowed, at least locally, by reaction to what it said about housing. That point: Democrats have had full, unimpeded control in Sacramento for years, yet the issues for which government is responsible have not improved. The focus on re-election and keeping donors happy is apparently more important to our legislators than good government and a healthy society. The $30 BILLION surplus underscores this. It is inexcusable for homelessness to be as severe a problem as it is in a state with those resources. At the very least some of that money could be used to re-purpose existing, empty buildings into decent shelters.
