It's about time that Sheriff Smith is being held accountable for the lives she has ruined and families she has destroyed.
Also responsible is DA Jeffrey Rosen, who has failed to prosecute any of the literally dozens of crimes committed by Laurie Smith and those under her management. Normally the local DA would take on this kind of action, but here, the Santa Clara Superior Court is sending a message that Rosen cannot be trusted to bring justice for Smith's countless victims, despite his brand-new claims that he helped "pave the way" for this outcome.
Jeffrey Rosen paved only Sheriff Smith's ways. At every - many - opportunity, Rosen chose to protect dangerous and corrupt police officers rather than to protect our communities. The fact that the Court assigned the case to the San Francisco DA instead of Rosen suggests that Rosen's bad acts may be next to be held up to public scrutiny. I hope so, or even better -- Rosen can just step down, and do us all a favor. We deserve better than this corrupt team.

Why isn’t she being held criminally liable? Taking bribes as an elected official isn’t against the law? I though perjury was a criminal offense. She is no more than the petty thieves that are released and reoffend because there is not punishment for their crimes. Make her do hours of community service if nothing else. Make her pick trash up along the road or something.
