Holmes trial loses another juror

An emotional juror was excused Wednesday in the federal criminal trial against Elizabeth Holmes, founder and CEO of the now-defunct blood-testing company Theranos, after telling the judge that her Buddhist beliefs require forgiveness.

Compassion? How about some intelligence and common sense?

This juror should have mentioned that she couldn’t judge anyone before she became a juror to do that.

She may put needlessly put this trial at risk of running out of alternates, wasting other people’s time and a lot of money for no reason.

Not being able to sit in judgment of someone is something you disclose during voir dire. That's what the process is for. Financial hardship should also be disclosed, but that's a harder sell. In reality, most people don't want to sit on a jury and will say anything to get out of it. It is interesting to serve once. It's time for professional jurors. Nothing else will end this circus. Making a mockery out of the legal system should be against your better judgment.
