Baskin-Robbins held up?!?! I get robbing 7-11 or a liquor store but Baskin-Robbins? Come on man! They have a lot of cool flavors and make custom cakes. This is where you take your kids on a hot day to get something tasty. Adding insult injury you snitched the tip jar too. Very crappy move dude.

The everyday world is becoming more and more of a ghetto regardless of one's zip code.

Criminals are coming to Palo Alto because it is easy pickings and chances are the perpetrator/suspect was not a local resident.

The security camera is so high up, easy to ID the cap but not the face. A second camera at a lower level might be blocked at times by store employees behind the counter but would be much more obvious to the robber and maybe be a deterrence, and also would provide another image of the robber.

If you look closely at the photo of him you can see the words "Calvin Klein" on the top of his sweatshirt, on his right side up by his neck.

That particular camera is there to make sure the employees don't steal cash from the cash drawer, not to identify robbers, or bad patrons.

According to PAPD, the robber was arrested on Wednesday evening but not in Palo Alto.

If you're on the lookout for someone in "designer clothing" in the area, you'll have some competition. Just a hunch.

Concurring with Jennifer.

Palo Alto has a pervasive designer mentality and the suspect could have easily been wearing Patagonia attire.

WOW - series of "problems" in the Middlefield corridor from San Antonio to Oregon. We need a police substation in this vicinity. We also need all of the businesses to upgrade their security cameras to get face level. We need them to close by 8PM so they are not a drawing card for break ins. Bad News.

We need a police force that's policing, not doing lectures on Wellness. We need accurate police reports because the numbers are much higher than published based on personal observation and NextDoor posts and on other social media as well as direct comments from friends and neighbors.

@Online Name: Maybe you could be a police officer? With all the "Defund the Police" and "Abolish ICE" demands, just be grateful that we have any law enforcement. They are constantly seeking new police officers. Who would accept that job with all the anger and criticism from the liberals? It's a dangerous job that most people are too cowardly to pursue.

Have you seen the Abolish ICE sign masquerading as art on Embarcadero Road (behind the Art Center)? Should political statements be on government property? Isn't that divisive?

No, I haven't seen the abolish I.C.E. signs but I've seen some new very ugly divisive ones from the YIMBY's/Peninsula For Everyone equating everyone who disagrees with them to Trump and his gun-toting supporters in St. Louis.

Expecting the police to pay more attention to neighborhood crime like bike theft, catalytic converter theft, robberies etc. than sloganeering is pretty reasonable. And I don't recall the "liberals" attacking and killing police in DC

@It.is.what.it.is:

I totally agree with you as to the dangers of being a police officer - these men and women put their lives on the line for us every single day! RIP Boulder Colorado Police Officer Eric Talley.

And, the "Abolish Ice" sign behind the Art Center needs to be removed-now! I will send the City of Palo Alto an email regarding that sign. Thank you for mentioning it.
