Gavin Newsom knew something gruesome was on the horizon. Chiefly CalEDD Agency. It has massively failed our state’s emergency and the unemployed and our Nation’s 5th largest economy, Cslifirnia. Upwards in $31billion in fraud claims — cash claims checks shoveled put the door — Trump alluded to the CalEDD’s antiquated 1980’s dot matrix system in may of ‘20. I am no Repub., or libertarian but Knew something Newsom has to fess up. $31B and no employment agency fix re-do in sight. The agency has had no oversight or accountability! Personally my kids and I have suffered under the massive bend of this state EDD agency. Starving, no TO, no rent. He office will not take any more calls about EDD. It’s a shameful display ineptness — the buck stops w him, at his office — people have been thrown out homes, begged-on the street ... on and on And no apologies.Furthermore, I am sick at heart that local cities have not figured out the council meeting Brown act during this Pandemic. — the Brown act has been thrown to the waste side now?! . The Zoom doom and gloom has locked out public participation for all. Inequity to the max. The council chambers ate not even open to view the meeting via big screen with 6ft distance and mask mandate. Absurd!!! At least allow limited public in. Not even ADA accessible ... and Knew-something has Newsom has done nothing to address public meeting inaccessibility . Lastly, out teens and children have suffered and carried a massive burden by being toxified with on line media and only social outlet. Billions should go to programs to help our children see again, the real world. Liw income kids need art therapy, physical therapy and emotional therapy. For this democrat, myself. Newsom has a very, very lit to make up for!

The wildfires caused massive loss of life and property. The fires raged on and air pollution got worse. Red skies covered the horizon. People with COPD, emphysema, lung cancer, and cystic fibrosis all suffered. The elderly were put at risk of stroke.
Ann Getty is a major democratic donor. Anne died of a heart attack during the wildfires of 2020.
Now the teacher's union in some counties are not sure if they want to come back to the classroom.
What is your plan for bringing back those who passed away as a result of the handling of the wildfires?
Teachers with tenure can not be replaced by adding money. What is your plan if they decide to not teach in a classroom and make the decision as a union?

Nothing the governor has done has had any impact on the coronavirus--not masks, 6 ft. distancing, closed restaurants, closed sporting events etc. The outcome throughout the country is roughly the same. It overwhelmingly affects the elderly and obese. Blaming Newsom for this is madness. Blaming him for the lockdowns, school closures and mask madness is very appropriate.

My problem with Gov. Newsom is that he seems to really enjoy hearing himself talk and sounding to himself like he's really smart (which he may be), but I tuned him out after possibly two of his early broadcasts on COVD because he was so abominably boring. Instead of making a crisp to the point case for what people should have been doing he droned on for hours giving statistics that were of little to no use for the average person-twenty thousand ventilators available in Chula Vista .....etc. Much better if he had emphasized what kind of masks were the most effective and other real life everyday points. I guess if he does get recalled we may see our R1 neighborhoods saved since these are in his target as soon as COVD becomes back page news.

When will he vaccinate those 50-64? Risk IS high. See the data from CDC.
Meanwhile, restaurants, MLB “open up.” Articles now discuss whether one may discriminate against those unvaccinated. Ummm, hey, many of us are being left behind!
News and an3 dotes report all kinds of skirting of rules by younger persons, and in the situation of scarcity, this is outrageous.
Risk of testing positive for Covid is different from falling ill, being hospitalized, going into ICU, going on a ventikar or God for id, dying!
Yet politicians cater to special interest groups, many young with AGEIST policies.
It’s higher than for those under 40.
Yet 16-64 are lumped together as a group. Outrageous. Can’t wait till an 18YO cuts in front of me (in my 60’s).
Recall Newsom.
They’re working on a Pfizer booster - so those who got two doses of the top quality Pfizer will again be privileged, meanwhile those of us in 60’s will be told take it or leave it the lower efficacy Johnson & Johnson. Story is J&J developed more recently so may deal better protecting against some variants. A distinct maybe - I’d rather be in the mainstream Pfizer crowd.
AND possible CTA and other powerful teachers unions will demand kids! be vaccinated agead if us 50-64YOs!
I think politicians (except President Biden), their staffs, spouses, hangers-on should be END OF THE LINE next season with these vaccines. Email your politicians.

Gavin Newsom is an incredibly useless and incompetent governor. He is clueless, weak, vacillating, and shamelessly panders to ignorant politically correct and also to alt-Left lunatic fringe identity politics special interest groups. He's totally unlike Jerry Brown, who was a brilliant administrator who knew how and when to wield power wisely --- and to say NO when necessary. Newsom's terrible legacy will be his totally incompetent handling of the Covid-19 disaster in CA due to his inability to earn, let alone use, political respect.
As for me, I'm not one of those ignorant, stupid so-called "conservative" cretins who back his recall out of sheer, moronic political madness. I'm a highly educated and intelligent Moderate Independent who loves political compromise and who hates the worst extreme ideas from total fools of both the Democratic and Republican "parties". They are not "parties". They are shameless ignorant disasters. "Extremists know no shame because they don't feel shame".

This topic is about the pandemic and responses to it.
If you insist on making it about race, why don't you work on getting blacks vaccinated since they have the lowest rate of vaccinations and/or maybe explain the low rate of vaccinations by non-whites which endanger us all. Asians have the highest rates of vaccinations followed by whites then by Hispanics with blacks last.

I suspect that the apprehension among some African Americans towards receiving the Covid-19 vaccine goes back to the Tuskegee experiments where blacks were injected with syphylis (by white researchers) in the 1940s and the results then 'clinically' studied by white researchers for over the next 30 years.
Can't rightly blame them.

You get who you vote for. After his fiasco as mayor of SF, you would think CA voters would have enough common sense not to elect him. Even some liberal Dems are at their wits end with Newsom. I hope the recall is successful.

Lameesha keeps talking down her own people. Not exactly an uplifting theme. I do not think that most subscribe to her comments. Most younger people - all younger people - now understand that they need to go to school, learn a trade to support themselves when an adult. Talking down what is common knowledge on how to succeed is not helpful or realistic. Hoarding negative stereotypes of your own people is unproductive.

to which you responded "if someone reading online decides to join an organization such as the ones cited above, isn't it more of a reflection of the reader than the writer?"
Not necessarily. It's more awareness of how false personae and bots are used to spread misinformation and division. On Facebook, for example, they're programmed to start IMMEDIATELY posting divisive and absurd comments as soon as an article appears -- like the absurd claim about blacks and skateboarding -- just to get people angry.
Sometimes it works -- which is why they do it -- and in theis case people become more prejudiced and stop donating to black causes and/or in VERY extreme cases start supporting racist causes.

Goodness...so much dislike for Governor Newsome along with an obsessive hatred towards transient RVs.
When I left Palo Alto for AZ, Gavin Newsome was governor and a number of RVs were parked along El Camino Real.
It's good to know that everyday life in Palo Alto remains constant.
With the possible exception of Governor Newsome, it's incessant griping about RVs (seemingly by one person), ongoing debates over who's entitled to enter Foothills Park, complaining about pro-developer city council members, and what not.
Given such trivialities it's no wonder others want to reside in Palo Alto. Palo Alto is no-worriesville, especially when it comes to life's serious matters.

Reality is that Newsome is creating havoc across the board for the taxpaying citizen. Any one is who not a taxpayer has more leverage with the Governor than the people who pay his salary. You all seem to be forgetting that in order for someone to run for office they have to be able to demonstrate a resume of achievements specific to the job at hand. He is dealing with other country tax issues and regulations, buying land in other countries. Construction in other countries. And NY - he upgraded a major feature in NY along with hotels, etc. Compare to Obama who never ran a company, and had few dealings of a business nature. An Activist - not a qualification for running a country.
As to Stacy Abrams - she ran for governor with no precious elected qualifications, does not pay her taxes, and when she lost refused to concede. Oh - she wants to run for president. Still no legislative qualifications.

Let's note here that there was a giant recession which affected land ownership, building ownership. I was invested in a REIT which foundered due to the closing of shopping centers at that time as well as the building of new housing tracts. And it was a world-wide recession. You now have major hotels going into bankruptcy and being sold due to covid. Does anyone read the business section of the papers which is discussing the ebb and flow of giant land ownership due to world-wide financial issues? It is telling you every day about bankruptcies of major hotels and the selling of major buildings.
Now they are saying that if you go on vacation your rental car will cost more than your airfare and hotel. If anyone thought that they were now going to travel to some other city and rent a car there then think again. The rental car stock was sold and there are no autos coming off the production lines to replace them.
I now have to rethink my Hawaii trip. Big issue for the islands.
The world in total is not immune to these type problems and you cannot single out DT simply because you personally do not like him. Personal dislike and government policy are coming under new scrutiny as the migrants have been unleashed and are in motion. And it is a world wide activity - Spain is complaining about all of the African migrants who are on the move to get to the European continent. The EU as an organization is not managing that function at all. Most of these dilemmas are world wide. Any person's personal dislike is just not addressing what is really going on.

This article was about Newsom and his potential recall. Not about “the former guy” and Biden. Saying Biden will go after your personal finances is just conjecture on your part. He hasn’t done anything yet. Besides, “The Former Guy” didn’t give anyone except corporations tax breaks anyway. We live in a capitalist society so both the Democratic and Republican parties main goal is to support corporate profits and the interests of Wall Street. If there is any difference between Biden and the former guy it’s the way they message things. The former guy was belligerent and Biden comes off as sort of “awww shucks” and “grandfatherly.” The other difference is that Biden has 30 years of experience in the Senate and is actually qualified to be the President while the former guy was an unqualified real estate broker that ended up making a mess of our country especially in his final year in office.
Regardless it’s nice to have a real President again.
Back to Newsom here. Again, I am not saying he is anything great, but if he gets recalled, California would open itself up to the horrible Republican “leadership” of someone such as Noem, Desantis, Reeves, Abbott, and Kemp.
These are just the names of the current awful Republican Governors. This doesn’t even include the potential candidates that are still brainwashed by the former guy and are trying to act like him and copy his brand of politics. It’s pathetic. Sorry give me Newsom all day over any of that. California will stay blue!
Finally, newspapers and publications back the candidate they want to back. The New York post constantly backed the former guy. It’s all for their financial interests. So your point about the SFC is invalid.
Last word.

SF and Oakland - People can view the ship traffic in the SFC - Local News Section. The info is provided by the S.F Marine Exchange. There are now 14 ships in the arrival column showing SFO as the port. Normally that would show Oakland (OAK). WE have ships docked in the bay / offshore waiting to unload or pick-up. That was the usual business of SF and OAK back in the day which provided us with the diverse commercial economy that benefited all people. There are four ships in the departure column.
Author Clive Cussler's Isaac Bell series is the stories of the railroad coming across the US to the huge rail yards in OAK where the commerce of the day was conducted to move products both in and out of the state and US. A world wide commercial section that is now being reduced to provide luxury apartments and ball parks. Why is a ball park more important than world wide shipping?
So that is where Oak is today - in a self destruct mode that is going to further reduce the available shipping capacity to enrich the developers. They don't care about a ball park - they have one - if they don't like it then tear it down and rebuild it. It has both freeway and BART support plus proximity to the Oakland airport. No - they want to build luxury apartments and condos on bay front property. Do not expect that will further the diverse community goals. It is a form of racial profiling.
And the lady mayors of SF and OAK, as well as Chicago and Boston don't get it - not is their wheel house. They were not elected on their experience and brains - they were elected because they were women that fit a certain profile. A form of racial profiling.
And Gov Newson does not appear to be up to looking at the important revenue generating elements of this state which is on the ocean. He is consumed by the political activities of his party. The portion that can not plan how we interact in the world commercial activity. Not in his wheel house or area of expertise.

My G so much denial of the seriousness of nipping a pandemic in the bud. We are beyond that and fighting a battle with an invisible/microscopic foe. And the push to open and bring back firefighters that died(?) - too much heaped on him rather than on a system that has been squeezed and also needs to be cleaned up and re-org'd like the EDD and career bureaucrats who need to be cut off their jobs at 20 year or less if they get that far with meeting the objectives of their jobs! Support American companies who support us like that N95 mask manufacturer in Tx who tried to get support for continuing his operation before 2019. Mr. Newsome's lack of focus on good leadership was evident before the pandemic. His main supplier of funds is PG&E. The fire starter. His focus on social issues continually puts the taxpayer at the bottom of the list of priorities. He has turned his original city of SF into a giant mess, along with the progressive focus for that city, now awash in law suits. He was doing a bad job before the pandemic.

What is really bad here is the number of law suites created by the AG - Becerra. He could not have done that without Newsome's approval. Many are oriented to social issues.
The latest before his departure for DC is the attempt to shut down the expansion of the housing development in the San Diego inland area. A map for the HSR shows that it has an end destination in Anaheim - Disneyland. Then an extension to the Inland Empire - Redlands and San Bernardino Counties then coming out to San Diego. Shutting down housing in an area that will see a lot of growth. They are trying to push all of the housing growth on the coastal section. The coast line from top of state down is subject to housing laws that would not be applicable in the inland section.
Tired of these games.
