I jumped on the Stanford Women's Volleyball bandwagon this year when I watched them defeat Nebraska in September on the Big10 network (random channel surfing). Yesterday's win against those same Badgers in Pittsburgh was the perfect bookend to a masterpiece season. The Cardinal women's team story is electrifying, and the closer they got to repeating as champions, the more compelling it became. I didn't go to Stanford, and I don't live in Northern California (I'm in Orange County), but I do appreciate excellence in the sport of volleyball, and these ladies just gave the world an astonishing demonstration of teamwork and tenacity. Like Coach Hambly, I too am sad that this chapter has ended. But what an ending! Gates for the match, BAM!
