Spurred by loss, Palo Alto teacher organizes suicide awareness walk

Jaclyn Petty, a fourth grade teacher in Palo Alto whose brother died by suicide in 2016, is organizing the Peninsula's first-ever Hike for Hope on May 19 to raise money for suicide awareness.

Ms. Petty is so brave to share this deep loss with the community. It takes great strength to take this pain and channel it into a concrete action. She is a powerful positive force for Palo Alto children and the community at large. I am deeply moved by this story.
