What could explain the uptick in crime as of recent? :-/
Given how rag tag gangs of no good thugs have been bothering us, the thought of learning self-defense has been ever appealing.
Stay safe out there, neighbors. Bring a flashlight, pepper spray, tazer, cane, anything that can be wielded to defend yourself.

I wonder if the three incidents in south gate, evergreen park and mayfield are related?
They are basically in close proximity after all.

They're really just good guys with guns - who just ran a little short. And, ya know, when ya got a gun, the hormones run a little wild, testosterone and all that.

And since the gun nuts on the other thread decided since no one was badly hurt, it's all good.

Seriously, bust these guys. And *everyone* who misuses a gun.

And restrict the number of guns!!!

It's kind of difficult to ID assailants wearing ski masks.

The Spanish accent is sort of a dead giveaway.

Fortunately no on was hurt although the robbers got away.

Too many recent PA incidents of this nature.

Wouldn't want to see Palo Alto become an 'open carry' city. It probably wouldn't happen but could serve as a deterrent to crime.

If someone pulls a gun on you, you have the right to defend yourself.

The liberal progressive policies promoting open borders, reduced prosecutions for repeat criminals, out of wedlock births and promiscuous drug use are causing the fabric of society to unravel like a cheap hemp-threaded sweater.

Anybody older than 40 knows Palo Alto did not use to be like this. Buy a firearm, take some training and become a responsible gun owner.

>> Buy a firearm, take some training and become a responsible gun owner.

Sure, and risk the ones you love. From another thread...

"A gun in the home is more likely to be used in a homicide, suicide, or unintentional shooting than to be used in self-defense.

Every time a gun injures or kills in self-defense, it is used:
11 times for completed and attempted suicides
7 times in criminal assaults and homicides
4 times in unintentional shooting deaths or injuries"

Web Link

The math is simple - keep a gun at home, increase the risks and danger to loved ones.

As far as your ridiculous far-right fringe memes about America's natural progressive policies, look at the red-states for all the things you mentioned.

>> The liberal progressive policies promoting ... out of wedlock births

Location % Born To Unmarried Mothers
Mississippi 53.2
Louisiana 52.0
New Mexico 51.1
Nevada 47.8
Florida 46.9
Delaware 45.8
South Carolina 45.3
Arizona 45.0
West Virginia 45.0
Georgia 44.9

Whole lotta Red/GOP states lead the way.

Now, progressive policies (and true, *real* conservative policies, [portion removed) would help those women get health services to prevent unplanned pregnancies - with contraceptive and other essential health services.

Sorry - facts courtesy of the CDC (which Trump naturally wants to defund after it reopens from his Trump Shutdown.)

Fascinating that the robbers addressed the victim in Spanish. How would they ever guess their threats would be understood? Perhaps the victim was Latino and they assumed he'd understand. If a straight-up white man, then telling that person he'd be killed if he didn't hand over his wallet in Spanish might be fruitless.

"Fascinating that the robbers addressed the victim in Spanish. How would they ever guess their threats would be understood?"

**Perhaps the assailants did not speak English or felt they could not communicate their threats effectively in an unfamiliar language.

"Buy a firearm, take some training and become a responsible gun owner."

**This is one's 2nd Amendment right...the key is to shoot responsibly and only as a last resort as self-protection. The assailant(s) be damned.

"If someone pulls a gun on you, you have the right to defend yourself."

**Yes. Even if it means firing back...but don't hit an innocent bystander in the process.

"Given how rag tag gangs of no good thugs have been bothering us, the thought of learning self-defense has been ever appealing."

**These lawless individuals must either be stopped, incarcerated or if applicable...deported as per US Homeland Security guidelines. No exceptions or excuses.

"Too many recent PA incidents of this nature."

**An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure...and the choice of protection is up to the individual

This is how I'd sum up Palo Alto these days: All of the problems of a big city, none of the benefits.

This incident and similar ones that are becoming more common and frequent, are the sole benefit of Liz Kniss's 'vibrancy and vitality' in a nutshell.
