Daejon Davis scored 22 points and the Stanford men’s basketball team finally won its third game away from home, beating host California, 77-73, Sunday in a Pac-12 Conference contest.

Dorian Pickens scored 17 points, including a pair of clutch free throws in the final nine seconds, for the Cardinal (14-13, 8-6), which plays two important games at home this week, beginning with Thursday’s rematch with Washington (18-9, 8-6) at 6 p.m.

Two wins and Stanford will be no worse off than fourth heading into the final weekend of the regular season at the two Arizona schools.

As it stands, the Huskies have a much better chance at making the NCAA tournament than Stanford. The Cardinal can change the seeding with a good showing over the next five games.

California nearly pulled off another late comeback, tying the game at 67 in the final five minutes and then fending off the Golden Bears after Davis fouled out with 2:11 remaining to play.

Davis was 7-of-10 from the field, recorded five assists and grabbed eight rebounds as Stanford won at Cal for the first time in over three years.

Reid Travis recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Michael Humphrey added 11 points and seven rebounds.

  1. Sadly, Cal Berkeley has had just terrible Pac 12 results this season.
Well am watching the Cal Berkeley Rugby team continue it’s
40th season in a row of being one of the top 4 NCAA related rugby
teams in the nation instead. Score, then get back to the sidelines,
no dancing and acting the fool in that sport!
