Glad to hear that the grocery store at Alma Plaza is doing well. Palo Alto needs a variety of grocery stores, not the same stores with the same limited selection.

I enjoyed the Starbucks on Alma and am sorry it's gone. I think a lot of students camped out at the Starbucks and stayed for long periods of time. So, not a lot of lines and turnover, but always a full cafe.

Surprised Palo Alto Sports Shop and Toy World stayed as long as they did.

"feels that downtown now caters to 20-something techies and restaurants"
So sad. Palo Alto has lost everything that once made it great.

Wait, the hairdresser story was a late April Fool's, right?

Palo Alto has really changed; not necessarily for the better. SO SAD!!! Kind of glad I left (never thought I would say that)

Did anyone else have trouble parking at that Starbucks?
Not sure why else it failed...

If this was a Philz Coffee or some other nice coffee shop, I think that it would have fared much better. There are just so many Starbucks in Palo Alto already.
I wonder what will replace it?

Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund
For the last 30 years, the Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund has given away almost $10 million to local nonprofits serving children and families. 100% of the funds go directly to local programs. It’s a great way to ensure your charitable donations are working at home.
