Oppose Cap & Trade funds being diverted to HSR

Original post made by Resident, Charleston Gardens, on Jun 13, 2014

The California budget that will be signed this weekend will divert 25% of Cap & Trade funds to High Speed Rail funding. That Cap & Trade program was sold to us as a program that would fund IMMEDIATE green house gas emission reductions to meet specific reduction goals by 2020.

High Speed rail won't even be finished until 10 or more years after 2020, and will be a net polluter (paying IN to Cap and Trade) while its in construction. Meanwhile we have a funding bucket now that can make immediate improvements in green house gas emissions that will being squandered by funding hole digging, eminent domain, cement pouring, cutting down trees, and other such activities that will not help us as Cap and Trade was intended.

THEY ARE VOTING THIS WEEKEND. If you disagree, its really easy to drop a short note to our state legislators. Go to Web Link. Or google 'who are my California legislator". Look up either all the Democratic legislators (who are in favor), or look up your own representatives. Click on their link, click on email or contact link, and an easy little message form comes up.

Do it asap though, they vote this weekend!
