Please do not call Highway 101 "Bayfront Expressway" like you are a member of a secret club. This the news and needs to be clear and accurate for the public. In addition, I have never heard anyone under the age of 60 call 101 by this name.

Colleen,
You don't need to be a secret agent or genius to understand that 101 and Bayfront Expressway are different roads.

This collision was not on Hwy 101. Bayfront Expressway is a different street (out by Facebook).

Colleen you may be confusing Bayfront Expressway with Bayshore (which 101 was called years ago.

Now that we've cleared up Bayshore Freeway vs Bayfront Expressway, can someone tell me which direction is eastbound or westbound on University Avenue?

By reference to Google Earth or Google Maps, Bayfront Expressway is Calif. Hwy 84 (leading to the Dumbarton Bridge), north of Highway 101 (aka Bayshore Freeway). University Avenue between Hwy 101 and Bayshore Expressway (84) runs due north-south, not east-west.

@Colleen

Best comment today. "Secret club" made me laugh. So true!

Hmmm is a registered user.

Re north-south vs. east-west. Locals always refer to this area as east-west, not north-south. Hence, Fremont is in the East Bay, Sonoma is in the North Bay. Going eastbound on Bayfront means going toward Dumbarton Bridge, going westbound means heading toward E. Palo Alto or Menlo.

I just received an alert indicating that the Palo Alto woman heading eastbound died from her injuries. My sincere condolences to her loved ones. I hope that the other woman recovers quickly.

Thanks Hmmm. I hadn't applied that logic to University Avenue before, but makes sense -- Stanford is the west end of University, so Bayfront must be the east end.

Sad to hear that the driver did not pull through. Web Link
