Menlo Park police arrested and booked into county jail Friday night Michael Ford, 38, of Palo Alto on felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident after colliding with two vehicles and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Driving a white 2011 Volkswagen Jetta on the evening of Friday, July 12, Ford allegedly rear-ended a blue 2013 Ford Escape at the intersection of El Camino Real and Santa Cruz Avenue, got out of his car to exchange information with the other driver, but then got back into his car and drove away, Menlo Park police said.

As he exited the scene, he collided with a tan Nissan Altima but did not stop, police said. There was damage done to all of the vehicles, police said.

Using the Jetta’s license plate number, police went to Ford’s home in Palo Alto, took note of the damage to his car and made an arrest, police said.

Other than a complaint of pain on the part of the driver of the Ford Escape, there were no injuries, police said. Driving the Escape was a woman, 35, from the University Heights neighborhood of unincorporated Menlo Park. Driving the Nissan was a 56-year-old man from San Mateo, police said.

  1. This is awesome! He hit another person while on the run. Wow, PA is the new EPA, what w/seniors getting violent, ladies trying to burn down the house & now a drunk hit ‘n runner. Maybe the surrounding cities need to start profiling Palo Alto residents so that they keep them w/in their own city limits.

  2. It’s a bit thrilling that my comment re PA turning into EPA crime-wise insulted someone. Hah! Now you all know how it feels to have folks judging you just by the imbeciles who commit crimes. It’s awesome that this guy hit not ONE but TWO cars and fled the scene. What a charmer.
