Hate to say it...but obviously the gun buybacks didn't do a much... This self-shooting and the recent gunpoint robbery--and the gunpoint robbery in PA the same weekend as the recent buyback show this.
We could have guessed though, since everyone on the news at the gun buybacks had something to say like "oh it has been in my house for 10 years just sitting there. I figured it was time to get rid of it"
'wally' somehow thinks there is a claim that gun buybacks will solve all senseless gun violence. I haven't seen such a claim.
Buybacks are a simple way to reduce unwanted guns. I would like to hear wally's solution to senseless gun violence in America.
Since the Sandy Hook shootings (20 children murdered) a mere 5 months ago, 4,200 Americans have been shot to death.
4,200 Americans shot to death, in 5 months.
over 200 teenagers shot to death.
80 children shot to death.
When gun buybacks take a few hundred unwanted guns off the street, it's a good thing. It is not the sole solution.
Universal background checks will help - let's keep the insane and criminals from procuring guns at gun shows and private sales. Polls show 80-90 percent of Americans support universal background checks as a start.
