please slow down when driving in the rain

Original post made by reckless driving is not an accident, Adobe-Meadow, on Dec 17, 2012

Sections of both Hwy 101 and Hwy 280 were closed this morning due to serious car crashes. Please folks, slow down when the roads are wet. Rain = less traction, poorer brake performance, and poorer visibility. You need to drive at least 10mph slower in the rain and also maintain a larger distance to the car in front of you. If road conditions are poor, then drive even slower. The next life you save could be your own. Thank you.

And another crash on Hwy 101 this evening. Two car crash on Hwy 101 near Shoreline leaves one car on "fully engulfed". Fire department put out the fire, but the highway is a mess.

Thanks for the reminder, reckless. Today, during daylight, no rain, I was nearly hit head on by someone driving in the wrong lane. Only my quick action averted disaster. It happened on campus, so the only good news is that we were right around the corner from Stanford Hospital. The idiot driver didn't slow, nor in any way acknowledge what he'd done wrong. He was old, so maybe he still doesn't realize what happened...
